I think that the idea of God being at work in the world is sometimes foreign to us.  When we say, or believe, that God is at work in the world…usually we mean, our world.

We believe that as long as God blesses us, the world must be blessed. It is possible that, being in this state of mind, we forget about the suffering of the world around us.  We believe that if we are facing a rough time, then the suffering of the rest of the world either becomes clearer to us, or we somehow believe that we have been mistreated and that “dame fortune” no longer is on our side.

Yet whatever place we find ourselves in, we must remember that God is not a stagnite being.  If we truly believe that God’s ways are higher than our ways, then we must also believe that His plans & doings are far beyond even our own comprehension.  God is a being, a spirit, pure essence, that is continually working in the midst of the world that He created. No doubt that His ideas and plans for this world, indeed, even our very lives, have not even entered into the mind of man.

I think this is the reason He asks us to trust Him.  Relying upon His strength, His knowledge, His understanding and being confident of His wisdom and His control over circumstances that we cannot yet understand is what trusting Him is all about. It’s about continually believing that God is always at work, that He is always moving, that He is always doing…and therefore we need not worry about tomorrow b/c He is in complete control.

Therefore do not frett when you can’t see the end of the day, or the end of the hour. God is at work beyond your comprehension. So respond with trust. Confidently putting your hope in a moving God.
